Racing Incident Report
INVENTOR was slow to begin and on jumping shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of PIKACHU, causing both horses to become unbalanced. After this, both INVENTOR and PIKACHU were shifted across behind runners.
Also from the outside barrier, SUPREME PROFIT was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
SUPER CHIC began only fairly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of PACKING DRAGON.
Shortly after the start, BEAUTY PRINCE was bumped by NASSA which was directed out by DOYENI. DINOZZO was inconvenienced in consequence.
After the 1600 Metres, DR LISTENING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NASSA.
When being restrained to allow PACKING DRAGON to cross after passing the winning post on the first occasion, BEAUTY PRINCE got its head up when proving difficult to settle.
Making the turn near the 550 Metres, DOYENI raced tight inside BEAUTY PRINCE which got its head on the side and lay in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHATER LEGEND.
Passing the 300 Metres, NASSA and SUPREME PROFIT bumped as NASSA attempted to improve between SUPREME PROFIT and CHATER LEGEND where there was not sufficient room. After this, NASSA and SUPREME PROFIT raced tight for some distance as J Moreira, the rider of NASSA, continued to improve into tight running which was commencing to develop between CHATER LEGEND and SUPREME PROFIT approaching the 200 Metres. Then after passing the 200 Metres, NASSA was steadied when unable to improve between CHATER LEGEND and SUPREME PROFIT which was taken in marginally by MARVEL HERO. NASSA was then unable to obtain clear running until over the concluding stages and consequently was not able to be properly tested.
Near the 250 Metres, SUPER CHIC was brushed by DINOZZO which shifted out.
Near the 50 Metres, SUPREME PROFIT was eased to avoid the heels of MARVEL HERO which, after initially shifting in of its own accord, was then taken in by DINOZZO (S Clipperton) which shifted in under pressure. S Clipperton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
After the race, C Schofield reported that DR LISTENING had been very disappointing in tonight’s race. He said the horse travelled satisfactorily in the early and middle stages and although awkwardly placed outside the heels of MARVEL HERO when taken wider by that horse passing the 700 Metres, DR LISTENING then came under pressure after the 600 Metres and then was most disappointing in the horse’s failure to respond to his riding at any stage. He said he continued to ride DR LISTENING along rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse did not quicken and was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. He added both during and after the race DR LISTENING felt comfortable in its action and as such he was not able to offer any excuse for the horse’s disappointing run. Trainer D J Hall was unable to offer any reason for the disappointing performance of DR LISTENING. He said the horse had not missed any track work since its last run and although it was marginally up in body weight tonight, it had performed to his expectation in track work. A veterinary inspection of DR LISTENING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY PRINCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of INVENTOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
NASSA, PIKACHU and DINOZZO were sent for sampling.
