Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
11 BUNTA BABY (J465) Over the concluding stages lay in and approaching the winning post made contact with BEAUTY THUNDER. Sent for sampling post-race.
8 BEAUTY THUNDER (J299) Shifted out shortly after the start and was bumped. Bumped near the 250 Metres. Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards gave consideration if there were grounds for a protest/objection against BUNTA BABY being declared the winner due to BEAUTY THUNDER and BUNTA BABY making contact approaching the winning post. Having regard to the manner in which BUNTA BABY finished the race off and that the contact was due to both runners shifting ground although BUNTA BABY had shifted further, they were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds to lodge a protest/objection and accordingly declared weighed-in on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. Sent for sampling post-race.
1 HEALTHY HEALTHY (H203) No report.
9 STAR PERFORMER (K207) No report.
2 SUPER SIXTY (J071) Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped. Near the 250 Metres shifted in and made slight contact with BEAUTY THUNDER. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 HARMONY FIRE (E175) Crowded shortly after the start.
4 LEAN MASTER (H134) Shifted out shortly after the start and was bumped. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up behind SUPER SIXTY.
10 WINNING CHAMPION (K429) Jumped only fairly. When questioned R Moore stated that in the early stages when positioned to the outside of BUNTA BABY he was obliged to shift in behind that runner when placed in restricted room. He said throughout the event his mount hung in which he attributed to the horse still being relatively inexperienced. He added that throughout the middle stages he was obliged to urge his mount to maintain its position at the rear of the field and upon entering the Home Straight he then commenced to shift the horse out to secure clear running. He said in the Home Straight his efforts to do so were hindered by the horse hanging in and as a result approaching the 100 Metres, when WINNING CHAMPION was commencing to finish the race off, he was obliged to reduce his vigour for a short distance to ensure that he was able to shift to the outside of CAP LINER which was giving ground. He further stated that once he obtained clear running WINNING CHAMPION finished the race off well under hands and heels riding. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
6 CAP LINER (L012) When commencing to give ground near the 150 Metres lay in and was eased to avoid BUNTA BABY which shifted out slightly.
12 SNOWTHORN (K025) On jumping was crowded for room between HARMONY FIRE which was taken out by BEAUTY THUNDER and SUPER SIXTY which shifted in.
7 HONEST WITNESS (K283) Bumped shortly after the start. Over the final 200 Metres was held up for clear running and could not be ridden out to the finish.
5 ZETA HEDGE (K295) H Bowman stated that his mount was disadvantaged by being pressured in the lead by SNOWTHORN and as a consequence was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
