He added that the horse would be given a short let-up before returning to racing with the intention to ride it in a more conservative manner in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.

12 7 MULTISUPERSTAR (L163) 11 Y L Chung (-2) Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. When questioned Y L Chung stated that the instructions were to settle the horse back in the field from its wide barrier and to ensure that he improved to the outside in the Home Straight as MULTISUPERSTAR had been held up at its first race start when positioned to the inside. He said after following STARRY SHOW throughout the event he elected to shift to that runner’s outside to comply with those instructions, however, when STARRY SHOW shifted out he was held up for clear running behind that horse near the 400 Metres. He added having regard to his instructions he persisted for a run to the outside of STARRY SHOW and after being held up between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres he endeavoured to improve between STARRY SHOW and THE ALL ROUNDER, however, MULTISUPERSTAR lay out and was unable to proceed into that run. He said as a result MULTISUPERSTAR then had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 100 Metres when he shifted to the inside of STARRY SHOW. When questioned as to whether there was an opportunity to shift to the inside of STARRY SHOW near the 400 Metres, Y L Cheung stated that as his instructions were to come to the outside he had not observed this run to be available and therefore did not contemplate taking that position. After considering his explanation the Stewards advised Jockey Chung that whilst he believed his instructions were to come to the outside he should, wherever possible, ensure that he obtains the first run that becomes available, particularly in circumstances when he is experiencing difficulty in obtaining clear running.
14 8 LEATHER GOODS (K401) 14 E C W Wong (-5) Apprentice E C W Wong reported that the intention was to hold a midfield position. He added making the Home Turn LEATHER GOODS dipped its head on a number of occasions and when he was concerned there was something amiss with it he eased it down in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of LEATHER GOODS was considered unacceptable.
