M L Yeung stated that with his mount having its first race start for Trainer J Richards, he was asked to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.

12 2 OSI HONOUR (K232) 11 M L Yeung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
10 3 VERMILION TEMPEST (L093) 7 J Moreira After the 500 Metres improved to the inside of OSI HONOUR when that runner came under pressure. When OSI HONOUR maintained its position making the Home Turn VERMILION TEMPEST was then held up when positioned behind SUPER GOLDENDRAGON. Near the 150 Metres VERMILION TEMPEST, which was laying out, shifted out and was eased when positioned close to GOLDEN DARCI when that runner was giving ground.

Approaching the 800 Metres, when racing ungenerously, got its head up and became unbalanced when racing in restricted room between GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP which shifted in slightly and GET FRIENDLY which shifted out and made contact with JOY STAR when being corrected by its rider.

Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up behind BEAUTY THUNDER which shifted in. J Moreira stated that his mount, which was fractious in the starting gates, jumped awkwardly and lost ground. He added that ELEGANT LIFE travelled only fairly during the event and finished the race off in a one-paced manner in the Home Straight. 10 4 AUTOMATED (K177) 11 M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with WHOWROTETHATSONG. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Leaving the 1400 Metres WINNING DATA, which was initially positioned to the outside of WHOWROTETHATSONG, was then shifted to the inside of WHOWROTETHATSONG (Y L Chung) as that runner commenced to shift in. A short distance later WHOWROTETHATSONG was then corrected by its rider when it shifted in and crowded WINNING DATA in onto AUTOMATED which was also crowded for room. As the Stewards were satisfied that WINNING DATA improved to the inside of WHOWROTETHATSONG as WHOWROTETHATSONG was commencing to shift in, Y L Chung was advised to exercise more care. Leaving the 400 Metres WHOWROTETHATSONG improved into a narrow run to the inside of WINNING DATA. A short distance later WINNING DATA was taken in slightly by INCANTO STAR, resulting in WHOWROTETHATSONG shifting in and away from WINNING DATA, crowding the running of AUTOMATED. Y L Chung was advised in similar circumstances he must ensure that there is sufficient racing room when improving into runs. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

8 6 SMILING ONE (K336) 6 K C Leung On jumping made heavy contact with GOLDEN BRILLIANT due to both runners shifting ground. SMILING ONE was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Making the turn near the 1200 Metres raced keenly and was steadied to avoid MADE FOR LIFE. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
1 7 GOLDEN BRILLIANT (K347) 7 J Moreira On jumping bumped heavily with SMILING ONE due to both runners shifting ground. When commencing a forward move to the outside of KING OF SELECTION near the 450 Metres was bumped and taken wider by KING OF SELECTION when that runner shifted out. Near the 150 Metres shifted in under pressure and bumped ALL ROUND WINNER, resulting in its rider J Moreira having to stop riding and straighten his mount. Sent for sampling post-race.
9 8 INCANTO STAR (K343) 3 J Orman Bumped at the start. Approaching the 1500 Metres made contact with KING OF SELECTION when racing tight to the inside of EXCELLENT BOY. J Orman stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Leaving the 1400 Metres shifted in and a short distance later became unbalanced when being corrected by its rider. Leaving the 400 Metres shifted in and away from WINNING DATA when it improved into a narrow run.
11 10 WINNING DATA (H230) 12 K Teetan After improving to the inside of WHOWROTETHATSONG was checked leaving the 1400 Metres when crowded by WHOWROTETHATSONG which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Near the 200 Metres was checked when crowded between KING OF SELECTION (C L Chau), which after making contact with INCANTO STAR, then shifted in and SMILING ONE (K C Leung) which shifted out. C L Chau was reprimanded and K C Leung was advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to straighten his mounts when they shift ground whilst not clear.

7 2 MONARCH COUNTY (J421) 4 J Moreira Leaving the 1100 Metres made contact with FREE PONY, resulting in MONARCH COUNTY commencing to race ungenerously. A short distance later MONARCH COUNTY shifted out and got its head up when being restrained to avoid FORERUNNER. MONARCH COUNTY continued to race ungenerously in the middle stages and near the 750 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from FREE PONY. J Moreira stated that the intention was to hold a slightly more forward position. He said MONARCH COUNTY was not suited by the early stages of the event being run outside of standard time and finished the race off only fairly under pressure in the Home Straight. 11 3 RED SEA (L195) 12 Z Purton Shortly after the start was bumped by PRESTIGE ALWAYS which shifted out. Z Purton could offer no explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance. Trainer J Richards stated that Jockey Purton was required to make use of the horse in the early stages to lead which resulted in it racing inside of standard time. He said notwithstanding this he was still disappointed with the horse’s finishing effort as the horse had pleased him in the lead up to tonight’s race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of RED REA was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, RED SEA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
