Trainer M Newnham stated that he had been satisfied with the horse leading into the race and could offer no explanation for the horse’s disappointing run. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 2 BEST FARM (K579) 13 C L Chau (-2) Approaching the 150 Metres improved into a narrow run between CONSPIRATOR and BUSTLING CITY and near the 50 Metres made contact with CONSPIRATOR when taken out by BUSTLING CITY.
9 3 BUSTLING CITY (L210) 8 Z Purton Z Purton reported that his mount, which was having its first race start, raced greenly during the race and finished off only fairly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
7 4 COMET RADIANCE (L067) 2 Y L Chung (-2) Shifted out at the start and was bumped. Near the 400 Metres lay in and as a result blundered and became unbalanced.
14 5 FORTUNE GOLDSADDLE (L090) 3 H T Mo (-2) On jumping became unbalanced when bumped by COMET RADIANCE which shifted out.
10 6 GREEN FIELD PEARL (K460) 11 C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Over the final 500 Metres was held up for clear running and as a result was unable to be tested.

Between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres was held up behind ALSONSO. After being shifted to the inside of ALSONSO then had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres when being shifted to the inside of COMET RADIANCE and LAHORE to improve. Sent for sampling post-race.

12 11 SPICY BONUS (L086) 9 M Chadwick Slow to begin. Over the final 50 Metres was held up behind LEADING DRAGON and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish.
4 12 LAHORE (K043) 1 A Badel Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race. Before being allowed to race again, LAHORE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
8 13 CONSPIRATOR (K090) 14 L Hewitson Over the final 400 Metres was held up and could not be ridden out to the finish. Over the concluding stages was bumped on the hindquarters by BEST FARM which shifted out after improving into a narrow run between CONSPIRATOR and BUSTLING CITY.

6 2 COME FAST FAY FAY (K121) 13 R Kingscote Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by CIRCUIT VICTORY which shifted out on jumping. Near the 300 Metres shifted out and away from VIVA CHALEUR when that runner shifted out whilst giving ground. As a consequence COME FAST FAY FAY made contact with SUPER ELITE near the 250 Metres. Over the final 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a narrow run to the inside of REWARDING TWINKLE.
8 3 I P O BROS (K193) 8 H Bowman After travelling a short distance made contact with SHOTGUN due to both runners shifting ground. Approaching the 500 Metres was hampered when taken wider by REWARDING TWINKLE which shifted out to improve. H Bowman stated that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover and hung out throughout the event before finishing the race off only fairly in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

5 6 GENERAL SMART (K138) 6 Z Purton Jumped only fairly. Briefly held up for clear running approaching the 400 Metres. For some distance approaching the 300 Metres raced tight between REWARDING TWINKLE and I P O BROS when improving into a narrow run between those two horses.
4 7 ONLY U (J037) 2 K Teetan Jumped only fairly. Leaving the 900 Metres lay in and became unbalanced when it made contact with the running rail. Sent for sampling post-race.
9 8 MAJESTIC DELIGHT (K189) 14 C L Chau (-2) C L Chau reported that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages to offset the outside draw. Trainer D Eustace confirmed the instructions issued. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A Badel (TOURBILLON GOLFER) was fined the sum of $5,000 for using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height inside the 100 Metres
