GOOD LUCK HAPPY continued to get its head up for some distance thereafter when being steadied to avoid REWARDING BUDDY (K C Leung) which shifted in when not quite clear. K C Leung was reprimanded. Between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of REWARDING BUDDY. Z Purton explained that with pace drawn to his inside his instructions were to ride the horse in a more conservative manner in the early stages, particularly as it did not finish the race off strongly when ridden in a forward position at its most recent race start. Trainer A S Cruz confirmed the instructions and the reasons he issued those instructions. Sent for sampling post-race.

9 3 PACKING KING (K570) 4 C L Chau (-2) Between the 150 Metres and the 50 Metres raced tight to the inside of LEGENDARY IMPACT when that horse shifted in slightly and as a result could not be ridden out through that section of the race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea and also found it to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
7 12 COUNTRY DANCER (H436) 12 M Chadwick From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Held up making the Home Turn. Between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres was held up for clear running behind GREAT SPIRIT.

3 4 GIANT BALLON (K451) 11 Z Purton Jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 300 Metres was bumped and taken wider by JOLLY COMPANION. Near the 200 Metres bumped with JOLLY COMPANION due to both runners shifting ground. Z Purton stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to take up a forward position. Trainer D J Whyte confirmed the instructions issued as he was of the opinion there was not strong pace in the race.
9 5 MAJESTIC LIFE (L085) 10 Y L Chung (-2) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
2 6 JOLLY COMPANION (H454) 1 C Y Ho On jumping shifted out, made heavy contact with GIMME FIVE and became unbalanced. C Y Ho was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 300 Metres (see LOVING VIBES). Near the 200 Metres bumped with GIANT BALLON due to both runners shifting ground. Sent for sampling post-race.
7 7 LOVING VIBES (J359) 6 M Guyon C Y Ho (JOLLY COMPANION) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 300 Metres he shifted his mount out when insufficiently clear of GIANT BALLON, resulting in GIANT BALLON being taken out across the running of LOVING VIBES, resulting in LOVING VIBES having to be checked. C Y Ho was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 11 February 2026 at Happy Valley. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record. When questioned M Guyon stated that in the early stages he was able to hold a position behind FLASH STAR. He said near the 800 Metres when GIANT BALLON improved to his outside he raced in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of that runner and when he was aware JOLLY COMPANION was positioned to his inside he was obliged to remain racing one-off. He said as he had expected FLASH STAR to continue forward and lead he did not contest the position behind that runner and as a consequence GIANT BALLON was able to cross to obtain a trailing position behind FLASH STAR. He said when FLASH STAR then remained racing one-off the rail this resulted in LOVING VIBES racing keenly and shifting out and being obliged to race further back as a consequence. After considering his explanation the Stewards advised Jockey Guyon that in the circumstances he had made an error of judgement by not attempting to hold his position to the inside of GIANT BALLON to avoid losing ground in the middle stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

10 9 FLASH STAR (K431) 12 R Kingscote In the Home Straight lay in when placed under pressure and approaching the 200 Metres shifted in and made contact with GIMME FIVE. R Kingscote advised that from the outside barrier he was instructed to take up a forward position. He said FLASH STAR then raced too keenly in the lead before giving ground in the Home Straight. Trainer C S Shum confirmed the instructions and advised that he issued those instructions as he felt there was not strong pace in the race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 10 GIMME FIVE (J099) 2 D Probert On jumping shifted out and made heavy contact with FATAL BLOW. As a result GIMME FIVE became unbalanced, shifted in and made further contact with JOLLY COMPANION. Near the 200 Metres was bumped by FLASH STAR.
12 11 NAMJONG KINGDOM (K015) 9 L Hewitson Jumped only fairly. After travelling a short distance was eased when racing in restricted room between PRIDE BELIEVER and MAJESTIC LIFE. Making the first turn got its head up when being eased to avoid POWER SUMMIT which shifted out slightly. Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race. Before being allowed to race again, NAMJONG KINGDOM will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
4 12 POWER SUMMIT (K044) 5 K Teetan Jumped only fairly. Leaving the 900 Metres got its head up when being shifted in to obtain a position with cover behind VICTOR THE RAPID. For a short distance near the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between VICTOR THE RAPID and GIMME FIVE.

3 3 HUGE WAVE (J197) 4 A Badel On jumping was crowded between MOMENTS IN TIME and NEW FOREST which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
7 4 KAHOLO ANGEL (H216) 6 E C W Wong (-5) Near the 350 Metres was checked to avoid HELENE FEELING when that runner was held up for clear running. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to HELENE FEELING. Apprentice E C W Wong stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued.
8 5 NEW FOREST (K094) 5 L Hewitson Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Shifted in at the start and was bumped. L Hewitson stated that, in his opinion, his mount performs better on the All Weather surface. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

10 2 NEARLY FINE (E430) 5 L Ferraris L Ferraris could offer no explanation for his mount’s disappointing performance. Trainer C Fownes advised that the intention is to now retire the horse from racing. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
8 3 AMAZING GAZE (K444) 10 Z Purton Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when racing in restricted room between YOUNG BRAVO and SMART CITY. When questioned Z Purton stated that throughout the event his mount did not appreciate racing inside CAN’T GO WONG and as a result travelled only fairly. When questioned regarding his riding approaching the 300 Metres and the reason he shifted to the inside of CAN’T GO WONG Jockey Purton stated that his mount was under pressure at this point and when he observed SMART CITY shifting to the outside of STORM RUNNER he was of the opinion the run to the outside of CAN’T GO WONG would close and for this reason he elected to shift to the inside of CAN’T GO WONG to continue into clear running. He added in the Home Straight AMAZING GAZE responded only fairly to his riding. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. 3 DH 4 HAKKA RADIANCE (J105) 1 H Bowman No report. <5/2/2026 Additional Veterinary Report> The Veterinary Officer reported that HAKKA RADIANCE was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, HAKKA RADIANCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

K Teetan stated that from an inside draw he had been instructed to ride the horse in a slightly more conservative manner in the early stages than its previous race starts as the horse had trialed well on 26 January 2026 when ridden in this manner. He said after being crossed by HAKKA RADIANCE in the early stages FLOOF settled further back than intended when HAKKA RADIANCE did not take up a more forward position as he had anticipated.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. <5/2/2026 Additional Veterinary Report> After the race, RAINBOW WARRIOR was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. RAINBOW WARRIOR was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Whyte this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, RAINBOW WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
10 10 INCANTO STAR (K343) 6 J Orman Bumped on jumping. Near the 1300 Metres was hampered when taken wider by RAINBOW WARRIOR which shifted out when racing ungenerously. J Orman stated that his mount was disadvantaged when he was obliged to make a wide run from the 500 Metres and after being taken wider making the Home Turn it made contact with RAINBOW WARRIOR and did not finish the race off thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

10 6 METRO POWER (K408) 1 L Hewitson Apprentice E C W Wong (ETERNAL FORTUNE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 350 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of METRO POWER, resulting in METRO POWER losing its rightful running and being checked. Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 22 February 2026 at Sha Tin. In addition, Apprentice Wong was fined $25,000. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 1 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his neutral race riding record. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

WV WITH A SMILE (K136) --- WITH A SMILE, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 3.2.26 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice after it was found to have a heart condition during the pre-race examination which requires further assessment. Before being allowed to race again, WITH A SMILE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Following further assessment of the heart condition, the Stewards will consider if any further action is taken against the horse.

10 10 BABY CRYSTAL (H081) 5 H Bentley Lunged forward just prior to the start being effected, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. H Bentley reported that his mount came under pressure making the Home Turn and when he was concerned there might be something amiss he did not ride it out to the finish of the race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of BABY CRYSTAL was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BABY CRYSTAL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. <5/2/2026 Additional Veterinary Report> BABY CRYSTAL, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. BABY CRYSTAL was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer B Crawford this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, BABY CRYSTAL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
2 11 YOUNG CHAMPION (J195) 10 K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Sent for sampling post-race.
WV-A 12 ALL OUT FOR SIX (L193) A Atzeni Prior to the start being effected lunged forward, made heavy contact with the front of the starting gates, resulting in its starting gate opening and the horse breaking through before being quickly restrained. Acting on veterinary advice that ALL OUT FOR SIX was not suitable to race the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. WV-A 4 MAGIC CONTROL (J333) C L Chau (-2) Prior to the start being effected lunged forward, made heavy contact with the front of the starting gates, resulting in its starting gate opening and the horse breaking through before being quickly restrained. Acting on veterinary advice that MAGIC CONTROL was not suitable to race the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, MAGIC CONTROL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

12 10 LO PAN SPIRIT (J233) 2 K C Leung Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1500 Metres was steadied to avoid VIVA GRACIOUSNESS (A Badel) which shifted in whilst being corrected by its rider. A Badel was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 11 ALLCASH (K190) 5 Y L Chung (-2) Approaching the 250 Metres made contact with WIN BEAUTY VIVA when endeavouring to obtain clear running to the outside of KEEFY. When preventing from shifting out ALLCASH then had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance thereafter. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up between SAMARKAND and KEEFY. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the running of Race 1, the track classification was officially changed from "Good” to "Good to Firm”. This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.
