Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, TAIJI SPIRIT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. SEASONS TREASURE began awkwardly and was then bumped by LE ROSSIGNOL which shifted out. MASTER MAJOR began awkwardly and lost ground, in the early stages proved difficult to settle and afterwards raced greenly. LUCKY DRAGON bounded in the air at the start and became unbalanced. On jumping, TAIJI SPIRIT shifted out abruptly and bumped LUCKY DANSKE. At the 700 Metres, WINDICATOR became unbalanced when awkwardly placed between LUCKY DRAGON and WINNING BULLET. After the 100 Metres, TAIJI SPIRIT was steadied away from the heels of WINDICATOR which shifted out. Over the concluding stages, DISGUISE got its head on the side and shifted in away from WINNING BULLET which itself was hanging in. When questioned regarding the poor performance of INVERNESS, Apprentice C K Tong said he had been instructed to obtain cover with the horse if possible which he was able to do when LUCKY DANSKE crossed to race outside the leader near the 800 Metres. He said INVERNESS at this stage of the race was travelling well, however, came under pressure prior to straightening and did not respond to his riding. Apprentice Tong was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of INVERNESS, but he did say the horse did not stride out as he thought it should in the Home Straight. INVERNESS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of INVERNESS after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of INVERNESS, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, INVERNESS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINNING BULLET and DISGUISE were sent for sampling.
