Racing Incident Report

CHOICE AND CHANCE began awkwardly. SPOKESMAN, which was to be ridden in a forward position if possible today, began awkwardly, lost ground at the start and as such raced further back than intended. QUICK NEWS and KING OF GAROUPA were slow to begin. After the 1200 Metres, KING OF GAROUPA was steadied away from the heels of NOBLE ZOOM which shifted in slightly. CHOICE AND CHANCE, which was following KING OF GAROUPA, became unbalanced at the same time. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, CHOICE AND CHANCE was steadied away from the heels of PORTER RICKS which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of NOBLE ZOOM. At the 800 Metres, GLOBAL FORTUNE was steadied when crowded for room between FLYING KENNY and LUCKY CHAMPION which was carried out slightly by SPOKESMAN which shifted ground when proving difficult to settle and racing close to the heels of KING OF GAROUPA. After this incident, GLOBAL FORTUNE then improved around the outside of LUCKY CHAMPION and near the 600 Metres was carried wider as LUCKY CHAMPION shifted to the outside of FLYING KENNY. After the 800 Metres, NOBLE ZOOM was steadied away from the heels of DRAGON STRIDE. KING OF GAROUPA, which was racing behind NOBLE ZOOM, was steadied in consequence. After the 200 Metres, AURELIAN got its head on the side and drifted in, then when being straightened shifted out abruptly. Throughout the race, FLYING KENNY raced wide and without cover. GLOBAL FORTUNE and APPLIED SUPREME were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of GLOBAL FORTUNE and APPLIED SUPREME after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY CHAMPION and FORTUNE BUILDER were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 31 May 2004)
APPLIED SUPREME, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. APPLIED SUPREME was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning. He said at this time the horse was found to have an injury to the right front tendon. Before being allowed to race again, APPLIED SUPREME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
