Racing Incident Report

MAJESTIC FEELING began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped NOBLE HERO which in turn shifted ground and bumped ASIA RISING (Apprentice C K Tong) which had begun awkwardly. Apprentice Tong lost the use of his right stirrup for a short distance. SHARE THE FUN and SUPER KING were slow to begin. ABLE EAGLE put its head down as the gates opened and began awkwardly. Approaching the 800 Metres, SHOGUN was crowded for room between BRAVE KNIGHT and LUCKY GALLOPER which shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HIGHLILLI. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, NOBLE HERO commenced to hang out, ran off and was eased down. E Legrix, the rider of NOBLE HERO, reported following the race he noted the tongue tie which had been fitted to the horse had broken and as a result NOBLE HERO had its tongue over the bit. As NOBLE HERO had hung out badly on previous occasions, before being permitted to race again, it will have to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of official barrier trials around a bend. SUPER KING, which was having its first race start today, hung out badly, making the turn at the 800 Metres shifted abruptly and as a result hampered ASIA RISING and SHARE THE FUN which were carried wider. SUPER KING continued to hang out, ran off and was eased down. Before being permitted to race again, SUPER KING will have to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend. Near the 300 Metres, ABLE EAGLE was steadied when crowded for room between GOLDEN FARM and TCHAIKOVSKY which drifted in. D Whyte (SHOGUN) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said he enjoyed a comfortable run throughout, however, in the Straight SHOGUN did not close off as it had done in recent starts. After the race, A Delpech, the rider of MAJESTIC FEELING, reported the horse was not striding out freely. The Veterinary Officer said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MAJESTIC FEELING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUPER KING, NOBLE HERO and SHARE THE FUN were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPER KING, NOBLE HERO and SHARE THE FUN after the race did not show any significant findings. SHOGUN, NOBLE CRUSADER and TCHAIKOVSKY were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 13 December 2004)
NOBLE HERO, which was eased down, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings other than he noted the horse's tongue tie had broken. NOBLE HERO was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A Lee this morning. He said at this time the horse was mildly lame in the left front leg and stiff in both hind legs. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE HERO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
