Racing Incident Report

ROYAL MILLENNIUM and BATTLE WON began awkwardly. At the 400 Metres, SUNNINGDALE was steadied and shifted out when momentarily crowded for room between YELL and BATTLE WON which got its head on the side and shifted in away from CAPE OF GOOD HOPE. After the 400 Metres, VAR commenced to hang in. Because of this, L Dettori, its rider, attempted to pull the whip through into his right hand, however, when doing so he dropped the whip. Over the concluding stages, VAR hung in badly. When questioned regarding the poor performance of CALSTONE LIGHT O, N Onishi was unable to offer any explanation. He said the horse did not travel at any stage of the race today as it usually does. CALSTONE LIGHT O and VAR were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CALSTONE LIGHT O and VAR after the race did not show any significant findings. SILENT WITNESS, CAPE OF GOOD HOPE and NATURAL BLITZ were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SUNNINGDALE had lost its right front plate.
