Racing Incident Report

Before being presented in the Parade Ring, BOLD CHAMPION had its left hind plate reset. BOLD CHAMPION was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. During the preliminary, D Nikolic was dislodged from SUPER CEE JAY. SUPER CEE JAY was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. EVER KING was slow to begin. GEM POWER began awkwardly. From the outside barriers, PURE ALPHA and BAJAN BELL were taken across behind runners. At the 800 Metres, EVER KING was steadied away from the heels of BAJAN BELL which in turn was steadied away from the heels of GEM POWER. In the early and middle stages, SUPER FANTASY proved difficult to settle. Approaching the 600 Metres, EVER KING was momentarily crowded for room between SUPER FANTASY and BAJAN BELL which shifted out slightly. SUPER FANTASY was held up for a run in the early part of the Straight and near the 300 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of BOLD CHAMPION to obtain clear running. In this incident, SUPER FANTASY and PURE ALPHA bumped. Approaching the 400 Metres, BAJAN BELL was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of KA KA SMART. BAJAN BELL was then shifted out in an endeavour to obtain clear running and near the 350 Metres was steadied when disappointed for running between SUPER CEE JAY and KA KA SMART which shifted out. EVER KING, which was following BAJAN BELL, was steadied in consequence. Approaching the 200 Metres, BAJAN BELL was steadied off the heels of SUPER CEE JAY which was giving ground. Over the final 200 Metres, BOLD CHAMPION shifted in under pressure, obliging its rider, C K Tong, to stop riding on a number of occasions. Close to the line, BOLD CHAMPION, which continued to lay in, was steadied away from the heels of NAMJONG GOODLUCK which shifted out. Over the concluding stages, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS was hampered when crowded for room between KA KA SMART and EVER KING which shifted to the outside of DASH to continue improving its position. Throughout the race, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS travelled wide and without cover. LAZY BUDDIES, BAJAN BELL and ARISTOCRACY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LAZY BUDDIES and BAJAN BELL after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, ARISTOCRACY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. NAMJONG GOODLUCK and DASH were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 2 May 2007)
BAJAN BELL, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. BAJAN BELL was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer J Size this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BAJAN BELL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
