Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading before the race, BEETLE got away from its attendant and ran loose for a short time in the parade area. No incident of any significance occurred and the horse was suitable to race. NAZAKAT II jumped awkwardly, then just after the start was crowded for room between THE CHIEF and MASTERKEY which shifted in. NATURAL CLASSIC left the gates awkwardly. Turning out of the Straight the first time, SPEEDY RUNNER was checked when crowded between GLORIOUS WINNER which shifted out away from MASTERKEY and LEOPARD which was taken in by NATURAL CLASSIC. When SPEEDY RUNNER checked turning out of the Straight the first time, some inconvenience was caused to GO FOR GIN which shifted ground, resulting in CITY COMMANDER losing its running. Near the 1400 Metres, LEOPARD was checked when crowded between GLORIOUS WINNER which shifted out slightly away from MASTERKEY which itself was hanging out and NATURAL CLASSIC (K S Yu) which shifted in when not clear to be racing in a position near the lead. No direct action was taken, but K S Yu was severely reprimanded and told he has to exercise more care. About the 700 Metres, GLORIOUS WINNER and NATURAL CLASSIC bumped. Throughout the race, MASTERKEY hung out, particularly on the Home Turn where it hung out badly. J Egan (GLORIOUS WINNER) said he was concerned with the action of the horse over the concluding stages and did not ride it out. Before racing again, GLORIOUS WINNER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GLORIOUS WINNER and BEETLE were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was noted NAZAKAT II had lost its off side front plate.
