Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, C Williams (MAJESTIC WARRIOR) expressed concern over the horse's action. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and trotted up. He said MAJESTIC WARRIOR was lame in the left fore leg. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of MAJESTIC WARRIOR. Before being allowed to race again, MAJESTIC WARRIOR will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. MANSFIELD STAR and OLIVE OR TWIST were slow to begin. CHATER LANE was a little slow to begin. Shortly after the start, SEA PEARL was bumped by MAMOUSKA which shifted out abruptly after being brushed by MEMBERS GLORY. In the early stages, OLIVE OR TWIST proved difficult to settle. Near the 1600 Metres, SPEED WINNER was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SEA PEARL and shifted out. Near the 1200 Metres, CHATER LANE was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of JUST TOO GOOD. MEMBERS GLORY and DIVINE FEELING, which were following, were checked in consequence. Near the 1100 Metres, OLIVE OR TWIST was steadied when crowded for room inside MEMBERS GLORY which got its head on the side and hung in. In the middle stages, MANSFIELD STAR raced wide and without cover and making the turn at the 600 Metres got its head on the side, hung in and was steadied away from the heels of JUST TOO GOOD. For some distance after straightening, OLIVE OR TWIST was held up and unable to obtain clear running. To obtain clear running, near the 100 Metres OLIVE OR TWIST was shifted to the outside of MEMBERS GLORY. After the 400 Metres, MEMBERS GLORY was steadied when crowded for room between MANSFIELD STAR which was continuing to hang in and CHATER LANE which shifted to the outside of GUSCOTT in an attempt to find clear running. For some distance after the 400 Metres, SMART WIN was held up behind MAMOUSKA. For some distance after the 100 Metres, GUSCOTT, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room between MAMOUSKA and CHATER LANE which was racing tight inside the heels of MANSFIELD STAR which was continuing to hang in. Over the concluding stages, MAMOUSKA raced close to the heels of SPEED WINNER and because of this was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. SMART WIN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, SMART WIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. CHATER LANE, JUST TOO GOOD and DIVINE FEELING were sent for sampling.
