Racing Incident Report

ME FIRST was withdrawn on 7.1.03 on veterinary grounds (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GREAT KID (S K Sit). Before ME FIRST can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. MILLENNIUM SUPREME threw its head about as the gates opened and as a consequence lost considerable ground. TORI TOP was slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, TELECOM TYCOON was steadied away from the heels of MANSFIELD STAR which steadied in front. From a wide barrier, GREAT KID raced wide and without cover throughout and also hung out. At the 500 Metres, MILLENNIUM SUPREME was steadied when awkwardly placed between TORI TOP and KONRAD THE GREAT which shifted in slightly. For some distance after straightening, ACE ACADEMY was held up. At the 250 Metres, ELEGANCE became badly unbalanced and crowded for room between TOP OF THE CROWN and MANSFIELD STAR (K H Ting) which had improved into a narrow run between ELEGANCE on its outside and STAR OF TAI PO on its inside. TELECOM TYCOON, which was following, was checked in consequence. The Stewards were satisfied a clear run presented itself between STAR OF TAI PO and ELEGANCE shortly after straightening and as MANSFIELD STAR commenced to improve into that run, ELEGANCE drifted in towards the rail slightly, thereby making the run a tight one. In those circumstances, it was decided no action should be taken. BLACK CARBINE, KONRAD THE GREAT and MANSFIELD STAR were sent for sampling.
