Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, J Spencer expressed concern with the action of YACHT MASTER during its preliminary. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He advised YACHT MASTER was lame in the left hind leg. Acting on this advice, YACHT MASTER was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before YACHT MASTER can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. TURF LUCK began awkwardly and hit the outside of its barrier. ROUND THE WORLD was slow to begin. On jumping, FORTUNE LIFE bumped the hindquarters of EXPEDIENT and lost ground. On straightening, FORTUNE LIFE was steadied when awkwardly placed outside the hindquarters of C'EST LA VIE which shifted out to obtain clear running. Shortly after straightening, CZAR OF PRUSSIA and PORTER RICKS bumped on two occasions due to both horses shifting ground. Almost right on the winning post, EXPEDIENT was crowded for room inside REWARD. EXPEDIENT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, EXPEDIENT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. PALETTE NATURAL and CZAR OF PRUSSIA were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 27 Feb. 2003) :
A veterinary examination of EXPEDIENT following the race did not reveal any significant findings. The horse was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer B K Ng this morning and was noted to be moving stiffly in front. Before being allowed to race again, EXPEDIENT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
