Racing Incident Report

GOLDEN FARM was withdrawn on 25.2.03 on veterinary grounds (swollen right fore fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter CHAMP DE UNION (M Kinane). Before GOLDEN FARM can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. SUPER FAST began awkwardly and got its head up. On jumping, KENZAN shifted in and bumped MAJOR BEE. Throughout the race, DANHERO hung in and at the 600 Metres got its head on the side, shifted in away from MAJOR BEE and was steadied away from the heels of FORTUNE ROAD. Some inconvenience was caused to EASY KING which was following. In the middle stages, LUCKY TRIO hung out. Making the latter part of the Home Turn, KENZAN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DANHERO. D Whyte (FORTUNE ROAD) said the horse began only fairly which is usual, then quickly mustered speed to follow PAOBRIDGE which crossed to lead on the fence. He said shortly afterwards FORTUNE ROAD got its head up when close to the heels of PAOBRIDGE and shifted out abruptly, but this was of no significance. He said FORTUNE ROAD was a beaten horse on straightening and he was unable to offer any explanation for the performance. He said following the race there did not appear to be anything amiss with FORTUNE ROAD. FORTUNE ROAD was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, FORTUNE ROAD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination was carried out and this showed a moderate amount of mucus in the trachea of the horse. The performance of FORTUNE ROAD was considered unacceptable. Before FORTUNE ROAD can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. PAOBRIDGE and DANHERO were sent for sampling.
