Racing Incident Report
COUNTRY MAGIC knuckled over at the start. STAR OF FAME began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, GENERAL DANSKE shifted out after being bumped by FLAG FINDER, resulting in DR POSSI and RED STORM RISING being hampered. Near the 500 Metres, NATURAL FATCHOY was steadied when racing tight inside DR POSSI. Making the Home Turn, RED STORM RISING and GOLDEN STRIDE raced tight inside COUNTRY MAGIC which shifted in momentarily. GOLDEN STRIDE then shifted in away from COUNTRY MAGIC, resulting in RED STORM RISING being further hampered. Near the 200 Metres, STAR OF FAME got its head on the side and was reluctant to shift to the outside of SHINING DRAGON. Near the 50 Metres, STAR OF FAME, which was improving between SHINING DRAGON (O Doleuze) and FLAG FINDER, was struck across the nose by the whip of O Doleuze. STAR OF FAME then raced tight between SHINING DRAGON and FLAG FINDER which shifted in slightly. MARVELLOUS travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. When questioned, B Prebble said he had been instructed to lead on the horse if possible, however, after beginning awkwardly COUNTRY MAGIC did not show sufficient pace to lead. He said when COUNTRY MAGIC commenced to over-race near the 900 Metres, he elected to shift in behind MARVELLOUS to obtain cover. He added in the Straight COUNTRY MAGIC's action did not feel fluent, he therefore eased the horse down over the concluding stages. COUNTRY MAGIC was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of COUNTRY MAGIC after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, COUNTRY MAGIC will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY KID and FLAG FINDER were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported GOLDEN STRIDE had lost the left front plate.
