Racing Incident Report
NOBLE SILENCE stood flat-footed at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground. ESPERANZA shifted out at the start and bumped CLASSA WIN. Shortly after the start, FORTUNE WARRIOR was crowded for room between KOWLOON FIT and ADD THE FUN, both of which shifted ground. Near the 1300 Metres, FORTUNE WARRIOR was briefly crowded for room between NOBLE SILENCE and GRAND CENTRAL which shifted in slightly. Approaching the 1200 Metres, TRIUMPH proved difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted out when close to the heels of GALLANT FALCON. Throughout the race, ADD THE FUN travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned, Apprentice C K Tong (BRILLIANT FLASH) said passing the 500 Metres he was following CLASSA WIN and he elected not to shift to the outside of that horse to follow TRIUMPH as he wished to save ground and he believed a run to the inside of CLASSA WIN would eventuate. He said shortly after entering the Home Straight he shifted BRILLIANT FLASH to the inside of CLASSA WIN in an attempt to obtain running between that horse and SUPER DANA, however, near the 300 Metres was disappointed for that run and for this reason he was obliged to shift BRILLIANT FLASH to the outside of CLASSA WIN to obtain clear running. He added approaching the 100 Metres he attempted to obtain a run between KOWLOON FIT and PICTURE PERFECT, however, PICTURE PERFECT shifted out when giving ground which resulted in him again being disappointed for running between those two horses. He said for this reason he was unable to fully test BRILLIANT FLASH in the run to the finish. After viewing the videos, Apprentice Tong conceded at the time he committed himself to the inside of CLASSA WIN to obtain a run between that horse and SUPER DANA, clear running existed to the outside of CLASSA WIN, however, he reiterated he was unaware of this at the time. Apprentice Tong was advised his explanation would be reported, however, he must ensure he avails himself of all opportunities as they present themselves during the running of a race. KOWLOON FIT was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of KOWLOON FIT after the race did not show any significant findings. ESPERANZA and FORTUNE WARRIOR were sent for sampling.
