Racing Incident Report

GLITTERING began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped FULL HOUSE which lost ground as a result. After beginning awkwardly, GOOD JOB was taken across behind runners soon after the start. Despite being ridden vigorously in the early stages, LOTUS LOVE failed to muster speed and settled back in the field. Passing the 1000 Metres, GOOD FORTUNE was steadied away from the heels of PRINCE OF SUNSHINE (D Whyte) which shifted in when barely clear. D Whyte was advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance in similar circumstances. At the 700 Metres, GOOD JOB got its head up and shifted out, resulting in ZEZAO being crowded when tightened onto the hindquarters of LOTUS LOVE. For some distance following this incident, GOOD JOB and ZEZAO raced tight between GRANDFIELD and LOTUS LOVE. Approaching the 200 Metres, SPARKLING was inconvenienced by FULL HOUSE which shifted out before being straightened by its rider. As a consequence, SPARKLING (J Lloyd) was taken out onto the heels of GOOD FORTUNE which was giving ground and shifted out, resulting in ZEZAO, which was also having difficulty obtaining clear running, being taken out across the running of LOTUS LOVE which was checked when tightened onto SPEED RACER which was inconvenienced. J Lloyd was advised whilst the Stewards accepted that he had been placed in an awkward position by the movement of FULL HOUSE, he nonetheless should exercise more care in similar circumstances. SAME SAME, GRANDFIELD and GOOD JOB all had difficulty obtaining clear running prior to the 200 Metres. Passing the 100 Metres, GOOD FORTUNE was steadied to avoid the heels of FULL HOUSE (G Cheyne) which shifted out under pressure. G Cheyne was reprimanded and advised to make more efforts to keep his mounts straight in similar circumstances. Over the concluding stages, SUPER PEPPER raced in restricted room to the inside of the heels of AMBITIOUS OWNER (Apprentice C Y Ho) which shifted in under pressure. Because of this, SUPER PEPPER was not able to be fully tested. Apprentice Ho was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes more efforts to keep his mounts on a straight course. Also over the concluding stages, SPARKLING was steadied away from the heels of FULL HOUSE which shifted out under pressure. PRINCE OF SUNSHINE and SPEED RACER raced wide and without cover throughout the event. When questioned, Y T Cheng stated that from an outside barrier he was instructed, if ZEZAO began well, to take up a forward position without being pressured to do so, however, if the horse began only fairly, he should attempt to find cover. He said that after being fractious in the barriers, ZEZAO jumped a little awkwardly and then did not show enough speed from the gates to pursue a forward position. He said that given his instructions, he then took ZEZAO across behind runners in an endeavour to find a position closer to the fence, however, ZEZAO got its head up and raced ungenerously throughout the middle stages. A veterinary inspection of PRINCE OF SUNSHINE after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of LOTUS LOVE after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, LOTUS LOVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on GOOD FORTUNE at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD FORTUNE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AMBITIOUS OWNER and GOOD JOB were sent for sampling.
<3/10/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that SAMMY’S FORTUNE was lame in the left front leg on the day after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SAMMY’S FORTUNE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
