Racing Incident Report

PURE CHAMPION kicked the running rail on the way to the Start. After arriving at the Start, PURE CHAMPION was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being restless in the barriers, PURE CHAMPION reared as the start was effected and consequently lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, PURE CHAMPION will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. JAMESINA shifted out at the start, hampering VICTOR DELIGHT. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, VITALITY EXPRESS failed to muster speed and settled back in the field. Due to the slow tempo on the first turn, JACOBEE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of TURF EXPRESS and made contact with the running rail. Approaching the 600 Metres, JAMESINA was taken wider by OUTDOOR PEGASUS which shifted out around the heels of SMART GIANT. PURE CHAMPION was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. SMART GIANT was held up for clear running until approaching the 250 Metres. D Whyte reported that although obliged to race three wide and without cover throughout the event, NATIONAL TREASURE failed to stretch out in the Straight and felt awkward in its action. A veterinary inspection of NATIONAL TREASURE after the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned, T Clark stated that whilst OUTDOOR PEGASUS may not have been suited by the tempo of the race which developed into a sprint home, the horse was nonetheless afforded a nice run on the back of the favourite, SMART GIANT throughout the early and middle stages. He further stated that OUTDOOR PEGASUS failed to respond to his riding in the Straight and did not close off its race. A veterinary inspection of OUTDOOR PEGASUS after the race did not show any significant findings. TURF EXPRESS and SMART GIANT were sent for sampling.
<3/10/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon today reported that NATIONAL TREASURE had sustained an injury to its right front suspensory. Before being allowed to race again, NATIONAL TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
