Racing Incident Report
On arrival at the barriers, H T Mo expressed concern regarding the action of FORTUNE PATROL. FORTUNE PATROL was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that he could detect no significant abnormalities and after the necessary consultations FORTUNE PATROL was found to be suitable to race.
Also on arrival at the barriers, A Badel expressed concern regarding the action of MAGNETISM. MAGNETISM was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that he could detect no significant abnormalities and after the necessary consultations MAGNETISM was found to be suitable to race.
FORTUNE PATROL was very slow to begin and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE PATROL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
GO BALLISTIC and EXALTATION bumped on jumping.
JOLLY FOREVER and MAGNETISM also bumped at the start. Both JOLLY FOREVER and MAGNETISM were then steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
Near the 2000 Metres, GREAT TIMES was momentarily steadied when crowded for room inside SUPER HONG KONG which was taken in by WINNING GENGHIS (C Wong). C Wong was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, EL VALIENTE was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of WEALTHY EMPLOYEE.
Near the 750 Metres, JOLLY FOREVER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE TRIPLE.
At the 650 Metres, GO BALLISTIC and JOLLY FOREVER raced tight.
At the 450 Metres, JOLLY FOREVER raced tight outside GO BALLISTIC as that horse shifted to the outside of MAGNETISM into clear running.
For some distance approaching and passing the 400 Metres, SUPER HONG KONG was held up for clear running behind WEALTHY EMPLOYEE.
At the 300 Metres, GREAT TIMES was shifted to the inside of SUPER HONG KONG.
Passing the 200 Metres, EXALTATION raced tight inside MAGNETISM which shifted in under pressure.
When questioned, K Teetan stated that it was anticipated that CROWN AVENUE would have sufficient speed to lead. He said however that when a number of runners were also ridden positively in the early stages and when CROWN AVENUE did not show as much early speed as expected, the horse was then left racing wide and without cover. He said after the 1700 Metres as WEALTHY EMPLOYEE was working its way forward inside CROWN AVENUE, he had hoped that that horse would continue forward and cross into the lead which would allow CROWN AVENUE the opportunity to sit outside that horse. He said however when WEALTHY EMPLOYEE obtained the position outside the leader WINNING GENGHIS passing the winning post on the first occasion, this resulted in CROWN AVENUE having to continue to race wide and without cover. He added the pace of the race slackened after the 1200 Metres and he gave consideration to allowing CROWN AVENUE to improve its position to race closer to the rail, however, he felt that he would have had to make too much use of CROWN AVENUE to cross WEALTHY EMPLOYEE which would not have resulted in CROWN AVENUE being able to finish off the race. He said therefore he elected in the circumstances to remain racing in a three wide position and without cover throughout the race. A veterinary inspection of CROWN AVENUE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, C Y Ho stated that it was intended for WEALTHY EMPLOYEE to obtain a position behind the leaders if possible with cover. He said due to the circumstances of the race in the early stages, he was required to allow his mount to stride forward to sit outside the leader WINNING GENGHIS approaching the winning post on the first occasion as he was not able to obtain cover on WEALTHY EMPLOYEE. He said when required to race without cover, WEALTHY EMPLOYEE did not travel well and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of WEALTHY EMPLOYEE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, it was reported that JOLLY FOREVER had sustained a small cut to the right front cannon.
A veterinary inspection of EL VALIENTE and FORTUNE TRIPLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUPER HONG KONG, GO BALLISTIC and JOLLY FOREVER were sent for sampling.
