Racing Incident Report

Prior to riders weighing out for this race, W C Marwing was cleared to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. On the way to the barriers, SHATIN WIN WIN was kicked by an outrider's horse when being assisted. After arriving at the Start, SHATIN WIN WIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was lame in the left front leg. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SHATIN WIN WIN. Before being allowed to race again, SHATIN WIN WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When the gates opened, OPERA MAGIC blundered. LUCKY PACKET began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall and then was bumped by BOREAS which shifted out after bounding in the air. WONDERFUL BLESSING began awkwardly and was then bumped by DEVON FLAIR which began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall and shifted in abruptly. Shortly after the start, SO NICE and MYTHIC STEED bumped on several occasions when racing tight. Near the 800 Metres, BOREAS was steadied away from the heels of WONDERFUL BLESSING which after initially shifting out then shifted back in. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SPY KING got its head on the side and hung out. In the middle stages, SO NICE hung out. Near the 600 Metres, MYTHIC STEED was steadied when unable to maintain its position when racing inside ETERNAL DRAGON which itself was racing tight inside LUCKY PACKET which at this time shifted in slightly away from THAT'S WIN which also shifted ground. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Prior to straightening, ETERNAL DRAGON was steadied when disappointed for running between LUCKY PACKET and AURELIAN (Apprentice H W Lai) which at this time shifted out. Apprentice Lai was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. After the 200 Metres, AURELIAN, which had commenced to close the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of TOWERING FEELING which when giving ground shifted in slightly. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SPY KING got its head on the side and hung out. The performances of SO NICE and SPY KING, which tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SO NICE and SPY KING will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. B Prebble (ETERNAL DRAGON) reported shortly after straightening the horse became unbalanced in its action and failed to close the race off. BOREAS and ETERNAL DRAGON were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BOREAS and ETERNAL DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings. THAT'S WIN, OPERA MAGIC and WONDERFUL BLESSING were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 26 June 2006)
ETERNAL DRAGON, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. ETERNAL DRAGON was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A Lee this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ETERNAL DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
