Racing Incident Report
STRAIGHT WIN, which was very restless in the boxes, came out awkwardly. ON THE TEE was slow to begin. PAR AVION jumped very awkwardly with its head up, shifted out abruptly and bumped WINNING WAYS. As a consequence of this, PAR AVION lost a lot of ground. SUPREME STAR came from the gates badly with its head up and on the side, shifted out and made contact with STRAIGHT WIN. In the early stages, CHARMING STRIDE, which was inclined to be pulling, became unbalanced when being steadied to avoid the heels of PO ON WIN (C Williams) which was shifting in to lead when not quite clear. C Williams was reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care. Rounding the turn and in the Straight, PO ON WIN was inclined to get its head up and hang out. After the 200 Metres, LOK WAH TREASURE, which was closing off quite strongly, was steadied and shifted out to avoid ON THE TEE. In the run to the winning post, YACHT MASTER was unable to obtain clear running between DESERT STRIKE and NEW FACE which had a tendency to shift out. Because of this, YACHT MASTER was not ridden to the line in the normal fashion. A Marcus (SUPREME STAR) explained the intention from a favourable draw had been to take up a position towards the front or if the opportunity presented itself to lead. He said SUPREME STAR was restless in the stalls as has been the case with the horse before. He said it came out from the gates awkwardly, shifted ground and as a consequence got much further back than planned. He said after this SUPREME STAR proved very difficult for him to settle and the horse was not comfortable in the position in which he found himself. SUPREME STAR was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
