Racing Incident Report
SPEEDING MOLLY began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. Shortly after the start, CAPABEL was momentarily crowded for room between LOK WAH SUCCESS and KING OF FIELD. Approaching the winning post the first time, FORTUNE BOY, which was racing ungenerously, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SHINING DRAGON which shifted in when barely clear. After this, FORTUNE BOY commenced to hang out. Near the 800 Metres, SPEEDING MOLLY, which was inclined to lay in, was steadied away from the heels of CAPABEL which became unbalanced and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of KING OF SPADES. Near the 500 Metres, BEST EVER got its head on the side and commenced to hang out. At the 400 Metes, FLYING KENNY was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CAPABEL. Near the 100 Metres, SPEEDING MOLLY (Apprentice C K Tong) improved into a narrow run between OPERA MAGIC and KING OF FIELD. Apprentice Tong was advised to ensure there was sufficient racing room prior to improving between horses. Over the concluding stages, KING OF SPADES hung in. Just prior to the winning post, KING OF FIELD shifted in towards SPEEDING MOLLY. Because of this, KING OF FIELD was not ridden out to the winning post as it normally would be. B Prebble (MR PRESIDENT) was unable to offer any explanation for the horse's poor performance. He said MR PRESIDENT had trialed well leading into tonight's race. He said MR PRESIDENT travelled comfortably outside the lead, however, when asked to go forward after the 600 Metres did not respond in the manner in which it usually does. He said after this MR PRESIDENT failed to respond to his riding and gave ground in the Straight. Mr C Fownes, the trainer of MR PRESIDENT, was also unable to offer any explanation for the performance of the horse. He said on the strength of the horse's recent work and trials, it was given a good chance in tonight's race by the stable. MR PRESIDENT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MR PRESIDENT after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MR PRESIDENT was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, MR PRESIDENT will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FLYING KENNY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FLYING KENNY after the race did not show any significant findings. LOK WAH SUCCESS, FORTUNE BOY and SHINING DRAGON were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted PRO JOY had shifted its left front plate.
