Racing Incident Report
As the gates opened, LUCKY STALLION put its head down and as a consequence was slow to begin. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, VITAL PATROL hung out. Making the first turn, FORTUNE BOY hung out. Approaching the 1000 Metres, VITAL PATROL got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of ONE STEP AHEAD. Then after the 1000 Metres, VITAL PATROL was checked to avoid the heels of ONE STEP AHEAD which steadied to allow CAPE PRINCE to cross to the lead. At the 200 Metres, ABERDEEN, which was commencing to close the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted to the outside of VISIONNAIRE to continue going forward. A Delpech (PHOENIX FORTUNE) said from a wide barrier he had been instructed to ride the horse in a rearward position. He said previously PHOENIX FORTUNE had been ridden further forward when drawn more favourably, however, it was felt to go forward from barrier 11 tonight would result in the horse racing wide and without cover. CAPE PRINCE and ABERDEEN were sent for sampling.
